Career Builder Programme

Are you looking to make a change in your career direction? Is now the time to take control of your career ?

Whether you are embarking on your career or considering a career change it is vital that you know where to position yourself in the job market. To decide what your plan of action should be needs careful consideration based on fact and a realistic view of what you might expect, not what you think you deserve. We all now recognise the importance of investing in our careers as our career success underpins all other aspects of our lives.

The Career Builder Programme has three key stages to guide you through the process, Career Evaluation, Self Marketing Skills and support to make you self sufficient in the job search.

The Programme Includes

Career Evaluation

An in-depth assessment of your skills, achievements, behaviour, interests and motivators will enable you to step back and evaluate your career, giving you a clear focus.

  • Behavioural psychometric
This market leading psychometric provides useful pointers which can give clear indicators of the types of roles for which you would be best suited. The questionnaire is well researched, technically sound and provides information which can be used to help you gain an objective and comprehensive picture of yourself. A report will be provided to support this. Psychometric evaluation is now used extensively within the recruitment process. By understanding your own profile it will give you more understanding of the behaviours which affect your career options.
  • Self Assessment Exercise
One of the initial points of any career review has to be an in-depth, detailed self assessment exercise, both in personal and career terms. This exercise will be completed in your own time and will draw out your career goals in addition to a SWOT analysis.
  • Agreement of Career Options – Consultancy Session
Following completion of the above exercises and tools you will attend a 2 hour in-depth feedback session with your Consultant which will relate the results of your exercises to the current job market, enabling you to establish realistic career goals.

Self Marketing Skills

Experiencing a long protracted job search can be down to your lack of preparation. A well crafted CV, reflecting your objective, techniques to enable you to maximise your performance at interview and understanding how to job search effectively can make all the difference. This stage of the programme will provide you with the tools and the skills to undertake an effective job search campaign. This stage provides a minimum of 7 hours face to face consulting.

  • CV and letters creation
Your success depends on your ability to sell yourself and the first stage in this process is your CV. You will create your CV and your consultant will work with you to provide the final “polish”. Your CV will reflect your objective and by creating it in this way you will “own” the content. It will be supported by powerful marketing letters. A copy of your CV will be provided via e-mail enabling you to store and update it for future use.
  • Interview techniques and presentation skills
The key to a successful interview is preparation, practice and performance. You will be coached in the 4 stage interview process and will focus on the top 25 difficult questions. You will also discuss “Do’s” and “Don’ts” and be given tips to maximise performance. Role-play will be a part of the programme.
  • Understanding the job market
The structure of the market will be explained to you including the five sources of opportunity. Your consultant will explain how the job market works in addition to identifying the important factors affecting employers when they are recruiting, and the techniques they employ.
  • Development of an Action Plan
Your Action Plan must be as comprehensive as that of any organisation selling products or services. Your consultant will work with you to develop a strategy to explore all sources of opportunity. The strategy will take into account your personal circumstances and be consistent with your career objective. This will enable you to develop your own Action Plan to help you move your career forward.
