Interview Support

Do you always seem to be the runner up in the interview stakes? Have you been interviewed for positions you know you can do but only had rejection letters? Is this your first competency based interview or your first Assessment Centre?

The key to a successful interview is preparation, practice and performance. Although most people have had many interviews and consider themselves experienced in this area, they do not have the necessary skills to succeed. Interviews are not a mystery. If you know what questions to expect, have good answers prepared and deliver them in the right way you should be successful at interviews. How do you skilfully avoid the questions you don’t want to answer? Unless you have prepared and have these skills you will not be successful.

Interviewers predominantly select the candidate who projects themselves as being the best person for the job. This does not necessarily mean that the best qualified or the most appropriate applicant will be offered the position. You need to be the candidate who appears to be the best.

Effective communication (both verbal and non-verbal) is a factor. The manner in which you communicate affects the impression you leave on others. It determines your success in obtaining interviews and meetings. It also determines your success at interview and securing job offers. The words you use to describe yourself in an interview should “sell” you to the prospective employer. Interviewers will make judgements based on what you communicate to them.

The Interview Consultation Programme includes:

  • Understanding the interview structure - your Consultant will coach you in the various interview styles.
  • Body language - much communication in an interview is non-verbal. Your consultant will coach you in body language and give you tips to maximise this.
  • Interview Questions - your Consultant will coach you in generating responses for some of the most frequently asked difficult questions. Additionally they will coach you in how to respond effectively to unexpected questions.
  • Role Play - you will enter into a role play with the Consultant playing the role of the interviewer. This will involve answering the difficult questions for which you have prepared answers.
  • Debrief - following the role play the Consultant will provide you with feedback and suggest further areas for improvement and practice.

You should now arrange a free no obligation consultation with one of our consultants, so we can tailor make a solution to suit your personal situation and budget.
